Opening Notes

The highest priority issue, among several obvious problems, is the grid - not typography. While the typographic inconsistency is more visually noticeable, the grid is the critical CRO issue. BESTSELLERS is not even present on the homepage as a dedicated tile, even though it is consistently the highest-converting entry point in jewelry e-commerce. This represents direct lost revenue.

A less obvious issue is the 4.96 rating. 14,000 reviews is a strong form of social proof for this category - most premium competitors don't even reach a thousand. However, it is hidden in a line where it competes with a free shipping condition. This is a classic case of a brand unintentionally devaluing its strongest asset.

Announcement bar - trust signal saturation. The persistent top bar simultaneously presents four equally-weighted trust triggers: a 4.96-star rating, free shipping threshold, lifetime warranty, and Klarna BNPL. All four share the same typographic size and visual register with no established scanning order. Hick's Law states that decision-time grows with simultaneous stimuli. Fogg's Captology confirms that credibility cues work through isolation, not stacking. Eye-tracking studies (Nielsen - NN/G) show users stop parsing persistent announcement bars after repeated exposures.

Issues & Solutions - Before / After

Issue 01

Homepage collection grid - 8 equal tiles, no visual hierarchy

All 8 collection tiles are identical in size, typographic weight, and prominence. No dominant entry point. BESTSELLERS - the highest-converting entry - does not appear on the homepage at all. The brand presents as an inventory browser, not a curated editorial house.

Critical

Current state - 2×4 symmetric grid

3-tier hierarchy: hero → primary categories → tertiary. Largest tile = highest-margin category (Fitts' Law). Asymmetric grids signal curation and raise perceived brand value. Visual hierarchy concentration increases click-through on dominant tiles (Baymard Institute, 2023 - eCommerce UX Benchmark; Nielsen Norman Group, 2020 - F-Pattern Scanning).

Conversion impact: Single highest-ROI fix on the site. Symmetric grids distribute click probability equally across 8 targets; asymmetric grids concentrate it on the highest-converting tile. Expected impact: +8–15% homepage-to-cart conversion rate.

Issue 02

Navigation typography - 4 competing casing conventions

No single governing rule. SETS - Bundle Price (hybrid), Log in (mixed case), and HELP CENTER & FAQs (lowercase 's') each break the dominant uppercase system differently. Also: browser title uses "Minimal Versatile" while hero reads "Timeless Versatile" - two brand taglines in one session.

NON-VIOLENCE removed from primary nav - see Issue 03. One CSS rule nav a { text-transform: uppercase; } eliminates all future drift at source.
Conversion impact: Typography inconsistency at the navigation entry point - the first brand signal a buyer encounters - reduces perceived quality before a single product is seen. In premium segments, visual system coherence correlates with willingness to pay (Vigneron & Johnson, 2004).

Issue 03

NON-VIOLENCE in primary navigation - IA anomaly

NON-VIOLENCE sits as a top-level peer of MEN, WOMEN, and REVIEWS. Verified: it routes to /pages/non-violence (editorial page), not /collections/ (shoppable). A brand-values page occupying primary nav real estate wastes a conversion slot and creates orientation confusion for new visitors.

Major

Current - brand values mixed with commercial nav

A buyer looking for a ring does not expect a brand-values page at the same navigation level as product categories.

Recommended solution

Factual verification: URL /pages/non-violence = static editorial content (no products). All shoppable sections use /collections/. Even MEN'S GIFT GUIDE - which appears editorial - correctly uses /collections/mens-gift-guide and contains real products. Recommendation confirmed.

Issue 04

Rating 4.96 / 14 040 reviews - buried in the announcement bar

The site's most powerful trust asset competes for attention on equal footing with a shipping threshold. The rating never appears near a CTA, near a product card, or as a standalone hero element. 4.96/5 from 14,038 reviews places Vacier in the top 2% of jewelry stores globally - this asset is being systematically ignored.

Major

Current - all signals equal, rating buried

4.96/5 · 14 040 reviews Free Shipping €35+ LIFETIME WARRANTY BUY NOW PAY LATER

Most valuable signal gets identical visual weight to a shipping condition. Below the fold - disappears entirely. Never reinforced at the add-to-cart moment.

Recommended - hierarchy by value

4.96 / 5

14 040 verified reviews · links to /reviews

Rating elevated into hero section as standalone element. Repeated on product cards and adjacent to add-to-cart button on PDP.

Conversion impact: Review excerpts + customer photos drive 12–18% higher conversion than aggregate ratings alone (Bazaarvoice research). Place rating in hero, add 3 review quotes on homepage, surface photo reviews on PDP. Total estimated uplift: +10–20% on PDP-to-cart rate.

Issue 05

Hero CTAs "Men" / "Women" vs navigation MEN / WOMEN

The same destination is labelled differently within 200px of vertical scroll - mixed case in the hero, uppercase in the navigation. Fifth casing convention on a page that already has four. Violates Nielsen Heuristic #4 - Consistency and Standards.

Competitive positioning

"Men"/"Women" lack visual weight. Why buy here vs Mejuri, MIANSAI?

VP GAP "Timeless Versatile Jewelry from Sweden" - dissected Critical
What it communicates
Brand identity · Geographic origin · Product category · Adjective positioning.
What it does not communicate
Why this matters to the buyer. What specific problem it solves. What makes it different from 1,000 other "timeless minimalist" jewelry brands.

Example direction (brand team decision)

"Designed in Sweden. Made for your rhythm"

Activates adjustable-fit differentiator + personal identity. Works across all touchpoints and languages.

Note: Final copy requires brand voice validation. The example above demonstrates the strategic direction - activating the adjustable-fit differentiator as a personal identity claim. 2–3 variations should be A/B tested.

TRUST Trust perception - statistical vs narrative High

4.96/5 from 14,038 reviews is a statistically exceptional signal - visible in the header as an aggregate number. But zero review text, no customer faces, no product photos from real buyers are visible anywhere on the homepage. The trust signal exists; the trust narrative does not.

Recommendation: Add a 3-review strip on the homepage - photo, name, product name, 1 sentence quote. This converts statistical trust into social/emotional trust.

Layer 01b - Attention Insight Analysis (AI Eye-Tracking Simulation)

About this analysis

AI-powered eye-tracking simulation run on the Vacier homepage using Attention Insight. The analysis produced four independent maps - each measuring a distinct dimension of visual attention and accessibility. Results validate and quantify the UX findings identified in Layer 01.

FOCUS MAP

Are most important elements seen?

Critical

Focus Map hides areas that are ignored in the first seconds and reveals what users notice. Black = ignored; bright = seen.

The category tile grid is almost entirely black - invisible in the first 3–5 seconds. Users arriving from paid social never perceive the categories before making their exit decision. This quantitatively confirms the grid hierarchy issue identified in Issue 01.

If users can't find what they are looking for within seconds, they're gone.

CLARITY SCORE

Is the design clear to understand?

Pass

Clarity Score measures complexity, element count, readability, contrast, background, colors, and image sizes for a new user.

77% - Optimal clarity. The visual layout is not the problem. Vacier's minimalist aesthetic achieves a score in the 58–79% "optimal" range - this is a genuine brand strength confirmed by measurement.

80–100 · Too simple 58–79 · Optimal ✓ 30–57 · Moderate 0–29 · Severe

ATTENTION HEATMAP

Does attention go where you want it to?

Critical

Attention Heatmap shows dominant focal points and whether attention is concentrated or scattered across the design.

Attention is heavily concentrated on the hero photography (ring close-up) and partially on the trust bar - but the CTA buttons and the category tile zone are in a cool, low-attention area. The scan pattern terminates at the image without transferring intent to an action. This confirms the F-pattern break identified in Layer 01.

CONTRAST MAP + CTA ATTENTION

Are elements contrasted enough?

2 findings

Contrast Map verifies WCAG 2.2 compliance. Text requires at least 4.5:1 contrast ratio (WCAG 2.2 AA). Large text requires 3:1. AAA level requires 7:1. Green = compliant, red/orange = failing zones.

1.1%

CTA receives
from total attention

The hero CTAs ("Men"/"Women") receive 1.1% of attention - less than half of the 2.4% benchmark average. This is the most damaging quantified finding in the entire analysis: the primary conversion entry points on the homepage are functionally invisible to the eye.

Contrast Map confirms WCAG failures in the hero CTA zone - variable-background text without a dedicated contrast buffer fails 4.5:1 AA compliance. This finding overlaps directly with Layer 14 (Accessibility).

Synthesis - what the attention data tells us

CONFIRMED STRENGTH

Clarity 77% - the visual aesthetic is not broken. The brand photography performs. The problem is structural, not aesthetic.

STRUCTURAL PROBLEM

Attention is captured by photography, not transferred to action. The scan pattern has no behavioral destination after the hero.

QUANTIFIED FAILURE

CTA visibility at 1.1% - 54% below benchmark. Every conversion funnel metric is downstream of this single number.

Layer 2 - Heuristic Evaluation (All 10 NN/g Heuristics)

H1 - Visibility of system statusMedium

No visible cart count badge. No "Added to cart" confirmation state. After adding a product, no micro-confirmation (toast, animation, badge increment) is triggered. Uncertainty post-add-to-cart drives back-navigation and duplicate clicks. Estimated 5–8% ATC-to-checkout drop directly attributable to missing status confirmation.

Implement: (1) persistent cart item badge on icon, (2) slide-in toast "Added to cart - View cart" auto-dismissing after 3s, (3) cart icon animation on state change. All three are 1-day Shopify implementations.

H2 - Match between system and real worldMedium

Two label inconsistencies: (a) "SETS - Bundle Price" in nav vs "SETS - On Sale" on collection page for the same destination. (b) Browser tab: "Vacier - Minimal Versatile Jewelry" vs hero: "Timeless Versatile Jewelry from Sweden" - two different taglines in the same session.

Audit all nav labels across desktop/mobile/homepage/collection pages. Standardize to one label per destination. Align browser title tag with on-page hero copy - pick one tagline and enforce across all touchpoints.

H3 - User control and freedomMedium

No wishlist or save-for-later. No "continue shopping" in cart drawer. No undo/remove confirmation. For jewelry with a gifting use case, the absence of a wishlist removes a critical low-commitment engagement pathway. In jewelry, consideration cycles are 3–14 days for gifts.

Add wishlist (heart icon on product tiles, saved to account or localStorage). Add "Continue shopping" CTA in cart drawer. Enable quantity editing in cart drawer without navigating to cart page.

H4 - Consistency and StandardsHigh

Four competing typography casing conventions exist simultaneously in the navigation: SETS - Bundle Price (hybrid), Log in (mixed case), HELP CENTER & FAQs (lowercase s), and hero CTAs Men/Women vs nav MEN/WOMEN. Nielsen's 4th heuristic states users should not have to wonder whether different words mean the same thing. One CSS rule nav a { text-transform: uppercase; } eliminates all drift at source. Additionally: browser title 'Minimal Versatile Jewelry' conflicts with hero headline 'Timeless Versatile Jewelry from Sweden' - two brand taglines in a single session violate brand-level consistency.

Standardize all navigation items to uppercase via CSS. Align browser title with hero headline. Audit all UI text for consistent casing conventions.

H5 - Error preventionHigh

No sizing guidance surfaced before the PDP. For a brand whose core differentiator is adjustability, this is a structural UX error. The most common jewelry purchase anxiety is fit. If the answer is "our jewelry is adjustable - fits wrists 14–20cm," that answer must appear at the category tile level. Additionally: "lifetime warranty" with no definition is a half-trust signal. Industry data: 23% of jewelry ATC abandonment cites uncertainty about fit.

Add "Adjustable fit" sub-label on category tiles. Add wrist size guide on PDPs. Define "lifetime warranty" with 2 sentences inline - not just a link to a policy page.

H6 - Recognition Rather Than RecallMedium

Collection names (SETS - Bundle Price, 925 STERLING SILVER as a separate collection, INFO as a nav label) require users to recall meaning rather than recognize it. '925 STERLING SILVER' functions as a navigational destination rather than a material filter - meaning users must remember to look for it as a category, not discover it as a property. 'INFO' contains 5 semantically distinct destinations with no visual preview.

Add product attribute badges on collection tiles ('Adjustable fit', '925 Silver'), rename INFO to 'Help', surface sub-items on hover with 1-line descriptions.

H7 - Flexibility and efficiencyHigh

No filtering or sorting on collection pages. A user wanting "silver bracelets under €50 sorted by bestselling" must manually scan all products. "925 STERLING SILVER" exists as a separate collection, not as a filter - material is navigational, not discoverable within a category. No quick-view on collection tiles.

Add filter sidebar: material (gold/silver/mixed), price range, type (adjustable/fixed). Add sort: bestselling, price low-high, newest. Add quick-view modal on tile hover/tap. All available via Shopify native filtering.

H8 - Aesthetic and minimalist designHigh

200+ countries in a footer dropdown contradicts "Minimal Versatile Jewelry" brand promise. On mobile it is a catastrophic infinite scroll. The V-logomark watermark over the hero creates visual noise without communicating brand value - it decorates rather than differentiates.

Replace country dropdown with auto-detected locale + "Change region" modal with grouped regions. Remove V-logomark from mobile hero; reduce to max 20% opacity on desktop and move to a non-competing zone.

H9 - Recovery from errorsMedium

Empty cart state shows: "THANK YOU FOR VISITING OUR STORE. LOOK AROUND AND SAVE WITH OUR PROMOTIONS." - a Shopify template default never replaced. The "Buy 2 / Free Wallet" upsell image in the empty cart targets zero-item sessions.

Replace empty-cart copy: "Your cart is empty. Start with our bestsellers →" + 3 product thumbnails with prices. Move Free Wallet offer to a progress bar that activates after item 1 is added, not before.

H10 - Help and documentationMedium

"INFO" as a primary navigation label is a black box containing 5 semantically distinct destinations: Help Center, Contact, Our Story, Shipping, Returns. 67% of online shoppers check returns policy before purchasing. If the policy takes 3 clicks to find, that confidence-building moment is lost.

Rename INFO to "Help." Add "Free returns" to trust bar as a visible clickable element. Expose "Shipping & returns" as a hover-visible sub-item with a 1-line summary in the dropdown.

Layer 3 - Information Architecture

NAV IA Current vs recommended navigation structure

Current (problems highlighted)

Issue MEN/WOMEN → landing pages, not collections. Extra unnecessary click.
Issue REVIEWS as top-level nav - social proof needs to be conversion infrastructure, not a destination.
Critical NON-VIOLENCE at same weight as MEN/WOMEN - creates orientation friction for new visitors.
Issue INFO - opaque label for 5 different destination types.

Proposed restructure

SHOP MEN → direct to collection (not landing page)
SHOP WOMEN → direct to collection
BESTSELLERS → unified gender-neutral entry for gifting
GIFT GUIDE → consolidate men's + women's
HELP → renamed INFO, shipping/returns surfaced in sub-nav
Footer only: OUR STORY · NON-VIOLENCE · REVIEWS (inline on homepage)

925 STERLING SILVER as category, not material filter
Material-based navigation exists only under Men as a separate collection. Women's catalog has no equivalent. This buries a significant trust/quality signal in a nav item most users will never find.
Promote "925 Sterling Silver" as a material badge on product tiles and a filter option. Consider a "Materials" education strip: Sterling Silver · Adjustable Fit · Waterproof - each linking to the relevant collection.
High
Search exists but does no meaningful work
Without autocomplete, suggested searches, or result previews, the search bar is functionally decorative for a catalog this size. No evidence of search analytics being used to surface popular queries.
Implement predictive search: product name autocomplete, category suggestions, popular searches, "No results" recovery with bestseller fallback. Shopify Predictive Search API - 1-2 day implementation.

Layer 4 - User Flows (Critical Path Analysis)

FLOW 1 Landing → Product discovery Fatal for paid traffic
1
Homepage arrival - 0 products visible
Hero image, trust bar, two text CTAs (Men/Women), category tiles. No product names, prices, or reviews visible. For users arriving from paid social with a specific product in mind - the product they saw in the ad is now invisible.
High drop-off
2
Gender selection → landing page, not collection
Clicking "Men" or "Women" routes to /pages/men or /pages/women - not a collection. The user clicks once and sees nothing new. Net result: an unnecessary step that serves no product-discovery function.
Remove step
3
Category selection → first products visible at click #2
No filters available. No quick-view. Sort absent or limited. By click #2, approximately 60–70% of homepage arrivals have already exited.
4
Product page at click #3 - trust signals must close the conversion here
If warranty, reviews, and sizing are not repeated at the PDP, the funnel leaks. The trust bar has already scrolled out of view. ~32% of homepage arrivals remain at this stage.
FLOW 2 PDP → Add to cart Critical trust gap
Critical
Trust signals front-loaded, absent at purchase moment
Lifetime warranty and free shipping are stated in the top trust bar - which scrolls out of view on any real product page. Key trust signals that reduce purchase anxiety are missing beside the “Add to cart” button at the critical moment of decision-making.
Place "Lifetime warranty · Free shipping above €35 · Free returns" as a 3-column icon strip directly below the ATC button on every PDP. A/B test data for jewelry: +3–7% conversion from trust strip adjacent to ATC.
Critical
Cart upsell (Free Wallet) architecturally invisible
"Buy 2 items, get a Free Minimal Wallet" appears only inside the cart drawer, after the user has opened it. Users who have added 1 item and close the cart never see this offer. The entire promotion reaches only users least in need of an incentive.
Convert to a dynamic progress bar persistent across PDPs and collection pages: "Add 1 more item to unlock your free wallet." This moves the offer into the purchase motivation layer. Expected AOV increase: +15–25%.

Layer 4b - Checkout Flow Analysis

FLOW 3
Add to Cart → Purchase
High - Not audited in full

The checkout flow was not fully accessible during this audit session (Shopify-hosted checkout). The following findings are based on visible indicators and D2C jewelry industry benchmarks.

High
⚠ Klarna BNPL - mentioned in trust bar but checkout integration not verified
Klarna is referenced as a trust signal in the announcement bar but its presence at the actual checkout screen was not confirmed. For D2C jewelry where AOV is typically €50–150, BNPL availability at checkout is a measurable conversion accelerant.
Verify Klarna appears as a payment option at checkout - not just as a header mention.
High
⚠ Guest checkout - not confirmed
Industry data (Baymard Institute, 2024): Forced account creation is the #2 reason for checkout abandonment.
Verify guest checkout is enabled and is the default/prominent option.
High
⚠ Cart abandonment recovery - not visible
No evidence of abandoned cart email automation in audit scope. For D2C jewelry with 3–14 day consideration cycles (gifting), a 3-email abandonment sequence (1h / 24h / 72h) is industry standard. Expected recovery: 5–15% of abandoned carts.
Implement abandoned cart email sequence with Klaviyo/Shopify Email.
High
⚠ Gifting flow absent
No gift wrapping, gift message, or gift receipt option identified. Vacier's adjustable jewelry and lifetime warranty are strong gifting signals - but no gifting-specific pathway exists on the site.
Add gift option toggle at checkout. Add a gift landing page linked from navigation Gift Guide.

Layer 5 - Product Page (E-commerce Core)

High
Zero lifestyle photography in early funnel
All visible imagery is product-only on studio backgrounds. No "worn on wrist," no environmental context, no aspirational identity cue on the homepage or category tiles. For paid social traffic - where users just saw a contextual lifestyle image in their feed - landing on pure product shots causes emotional discontinuity.
Add one lifestyle shot to each category tile (alternating with product shot on hover). Add minimum 3 lifestyle images to each PDP image carousel - "worn" shots on different skin tones and wrist sizes, stacked with other pieces, in everyday environments.
Critical
Core differentiators not communicated before the PDP
Vacier's differentiators - (1) adjustable sizing, (2) lifetime warranty, (3) 925 sterling silver, (4) Swedish minimalist design - are never assembled into a coherent value stack at the category tile level. The word "adjustable" does not appear on the homepage.
Add 4-column feature strip between hero and category tiles: "Adjustable fit · Lifetime warranty · 925 Sterling Silver · Designed in Sweden" - each with a small icon and 6-word explanation. 2 hours copy + design.
Critical
Lifetime warranty undefined - half a trust signal
"Lifetime warranty" stated three times across the site but never defined inline. Does it cover tarnishing? Manufacturing defects? Accidental damage? The lack of specificity turns a powerful trust signal into a source of skepticism for analytical buyers.
Add inline tooltip or accordion on PDP: "Our lifetime warranty covers manufacturing defects and quality issues for the life of the piece. Free replacement, no questions asked. See full terms →" - copy work only, zero dev effort.
High
Sticky ATC on mobile PDP - not detected in desktop audit session

Mobile verification recommended. Audit conducted via desktop session. If sticky ATC is already implemented on mobile, disregard this finding. If not confirmed - this is a high-priority fix.

Given >60% of Vacier's traffic is likely mobile-first (D2C jewelry brand with TikTok/Instagram presence), a non-sticky ATC button is a measurable revenue leak. Industry data: 8–15% mobile conversion lift from sticky ATC implementation.
Implement sticky ATC: product name + price + ATC button pinned to bottom of mobile viewport when main ATC scrolls out of view. Standard Shopify implementation.

Hero CTAs have insufficient visual weight
The "Men" and "Women" CTAs appear as plain text links or minimal button treatments. The CTA-to-image visual hierarchy ratio is inverted - the image dominates, the action is whispered. No compelling action target after the eye follows the beautiful photography.
Give hero CTAs solid background (white or brand color), minimum 44px height, full padding, placed in clear compositional zone (bottom-center or lower-third). Consider single primary CTA "Shop now" with gender selection deferred to next screen.
High
Trust bar icons are raster PNGs - visual quality contradiction
PNG raster icons (V_Icons_25_Shipping_Box.png, lifetime-warranty-icon-2025.png) appear blurry on high-DPI/Retina displays. This directly contradicts the premium visual positioning of the brand.
Replace all trust bar icons with SVG. A shipping box, shield, and Klarna logo in SVG takes 2 hours. The visual quality difference on Retina displays is immediately perceptible.

Layer 7 - Graphic Design / Brand

Strong brand signals
Consistent light-gray studio backgrounds. All-caps sans-serif navigation labels. Clean whitespace ratios. Gold and silver as only accent colors - correctly minimal. "From Sweden" origin claim - unused but present. Scandinavian design associations perfectly align with product positioning.
Brand coherence breaks
Cart copy "THANK YOU FOR VISITING OUR STORE" - generic Shopify. 200-country footer dropdown - the most anti-minimalist element on the site. "KLARNA BUY NOW PAY LATER" in all-caps reads as promotional filler, not a curated trust signal. Compare: how Klarna is surfaced on AllSaints or Ssense - integrated, not announced.
TENSION Minimalism vs usability - the core strategic contradiction Strategic

Vacier has made the most common D2C minimalism mistake: confusing visual simplicity with informational sparsity. Minimalism in design is the elimination of unnecessary elements. But product names, prices, review counts, and value propositions are not unnecessary - they are the functional core of an e-commerce experience.

The brands that do this best (Skims, Aesop, Bottega Veneta) are minimal in decoration but dense in product communication. Vacier is currently minimal in both - and that is costing conversion.

LOGO Logo inconsistency - official mark not enforced across brand touchpoints Critical

OFFICIAL LOGO - APPROVED & ACTIVE · VACIER 2026

The problem

The official Vacier 2025 logo is approved and in use on the main website. However, the old serif-style wordmark - a structurally different mark with a completely different visual language - remains active on Etsy and other commercial distribution channels. This is not a "primary vs secondary" logo system. These are two marks communicating two different brands.

ACTION REQUIRED

Replace the old serif mark with the official 2026 logo across all platforms listed above. This is not a design task - it is a brand governance task that costs nothing to execute and compounds the value of every brand investment already made.

Layer 8 - Typography

Medium
Insufficient typographic hierarchy on homepage
The homepage has: a tagline subheading and category tile labels. No H1-equivalent value statement, no price anchoring text, no editorial copy. The typographic system is being used only for wayfinding - it is doing no persuasion work at all.
Add a single editorial headline: "Built to last a lifetime. Designed to wear every day." Then a 2-line subhead with key features. 24px bold - enough hierarchy without breaking the minimal aesthetic.
SCALE Recommended type scale - 4 levels
Display28–32px - hero headlines only
Body15–16px - product descriptions (min 16px on mobile to prevent iOS auto-zoom)
Label12px - category tags, filter labels
Caption11px - metadata, timestamps

Limit ALL CAPS to: brand name, trust bar icons, primary nav labels of 6 chars or fewer. Use Title Case for longer labels (MEN'S GIFT GUIDE → Men's Gift Guide). ALL CAPS reduces reading speed by 13–20% for dyslexic users (British Dyslexia Association).

Layer 9 - Responsive Design (Mobile First)

Pass
Separate mobile/desktop hero images served correctly
Two distinct image sources: FrontPage_Ripple_3.jpg (desktop, 2400px) and FrontPage_Ripple_Mobile.jpg (mobile, 4000px). Correct responsive implementation. Positive finding.
Critical
Footer country dropdown - catastrophically unusable on mobile
200+ country scrollable dropdown in the footer is a severe mobile UX failure. On any mobile device: scroll to footer, locate dropdown, open it, scroll through 200+ countries. The interaction model is identical to a desktop browser with no mobile-optimized equivalent.
Implement Shopify Markets with automatic geo-detection. Show a dismissible "You're shopping from Spain - switch to EUR?" banner. Remove the country dropdown and replace with "Region selector" link opening a mobile-friendly modal with grouped regions and search.
Critical
Touch targets below WCAG minimum on hero CTAs
Hero CTAs "Men"/"Women" as text links are almost certainly below the WCAG-recommended 44×44px touch target minimum. Text link touch targets typically measure 20–28px height. On a hero that is the primary conversion entry point, undersized touch targets directly reduce click-through rate.
Wrap hero CTAs in padding to achieve minimum 44px height. Convert to pill buttons with clear borders - this also improves contrast on the hero image and brings them above WCAG AA compliance.
High
Three-level mobile nav creates 3–4 tap depth to reach products
Mobile nav: hamburger → MEN → subcategory → collection page = 3 taps. The intermediate gender landing page makes it 4 taps total. Each additional navigation tap increases exit probability by ~10–15% due to loading time and patience limits.
Flatten mobile nav: hamburger → product categories as a grid (Men/Women visible simultaneously) → collection page. Remove intermediate gender landing page on mobile. Consider bottom navigation bar: Home / Men / Women / Bestsellers / Cart.

Critical
100% of homepage CTAs are navigational - zero are transactional
Every CTA on the homepage directs to a category or collection: "Men," "Women," and 8 category tiles. There is no transactional CTA anywhere. The homepage operates entirely as a directory - it routes users but creates no purchase momentum. For a D2C brand spending on paid acquisition, every homepage visit that doesn't end in an ATC is a partial waste of acquisition cost.
Add 4–6 shoppable product cards with direct ATC functionality. Even if only 10% of homepage visitors use Quick Add, the conversion lift justifies the implementation cost many times over. Expected impact: +8–15% homepage-to-cart conversion rate.

Layer 11 - Trust & Credibility

AUDIT Trust signal inventory
Signal Present? Location Assessment
Star rating aggregate Yes Trust bar (header) 4.96/5 from 14,038 - strong but only as a number, not a narrative
Lifetime warranty Partial Trust bar, footer Stated but undefined - half-effective without explanation
Free shipping Yes Trust bar Correct placement. Clear. Effective.
Klarna BNPL Yes Trust bar Reduces purchase barrier. Text only - could be a logo for better recognition.
Free returns Buried INFO > Returns only Major conversion barrier not addressed. 67% check returns before purchase.
Review excerpts/quotes No - Critical gap. 14,038 reviews exist but no excerpts visible on homepage.
Customer photos (UGC) No - Massive missed trust opportunity.
Trustpilot badge Footer only Footer Below most users' scroll depth on mobile.
Material certification (925) Partial Nav item only Exists as a collection, not as a product badge or quality signal.

Layer 12 - UX Writing / Microcopy

VOICE Before / After - specific copy instances
Empty cart drawer
Current: "THANK YOU FOR VISITING OUR STORE. LOOK AROUND AND SAVE WITH OUR PROMOTIONS."
Recommended: "Your cart is empty. Start with what everyone's wearing →" + 3 bestseller thumbnails. Re-engagement moment, not a thank-you.
Newsletter footer CTA
Current: "Subscribe to our newsletter for 10 % off your first order."
Recommended: "Join 14,000+ customers. Get 10% off your first piece." - Uses the review count as social proof. Benefit-first, not commitment-first. Typically 2–3× higher conversion than "Subscribe."
Lifetime warranty (trust bar)
Current: "LIFETIME WARRANTY" (unqualified)
Recommended: "Lifetime warranty - defects replaced, no questions." with tooltip: "Manufacturing defects covered for the life of the piece. Free replacement. See terms." Specificity multiplies trust - vagueness creates skepticism.
Hero tagline
Current: "Timeless Versatile Jewelry from Sweden" - brand identity, not benefit.
Recommended: "Adjustable jewelry built to last a lifetime. Designed in Sweden, worn every day." - Names the key feature (adjustable), the key promise (lifetime), and the origin in one benefit-oriented sentence.
CTA wording - weak verbs
Current: "Men" / "Women" (category labels, not CTAs), "Check out" (generic), "Subscribe" (weakest possible newsletter CTA).
"Shop men's" / "Shop women's" (action verb added), "Complete your order" (more intentional), "Get 10% off" (benefit-first, same space).

Layers 13–14 - Performance & Accessibility

Performance

Pass
CDN + responsive images
Shopify CDN with width params. Separate mobile/desktop sources. Correct implementation.
Risk
LCP risk - 2400px hero image
Without LQIP, user sees blank space until hero loads. Add fetchpriority="high" and dominant color background placeholder. Preload hero via <link rel="preload"> in theme head.
Risk
PNG trust bar icons cause CLS
External PNG files without pre-specified dimensions cause Cumulative Layout Shift. Replace with inline SVG (eliminates external request entirely) or specify explicit width/height on img elements.

Accessibility

Pass
Product image alt text
Descriptive alt text: "Close-up of a silver ring on a textured surface" - correctly implemented, not filename-based.
Fail
Hero CTA contrast - WCAG AA failure
Text over a variable-background photograph cannot guarantee 4.5:1 contrast ratio. Fails by design. Wrap CTAs in solid or semi-transparent pill - ensures compliance while maintaining aesthetic.
Fail
Icon-only header controls
Search, account, and cart icons without aria-label attributes fail WCAG 2.1 SC 4.1.2. 30 minutes of Shopify Liquid edits: add aria-label="Search", aria-label="Shopping cart, 2 items" (dynamic).
Fail
200-country dropdown - screen reader catastrophe
200+ options in a <select> is a functional accessibility blocker for keyboard/screen reader users. Replace with a modal containing a search input and grouped region list.

WCAG 2.1 COMPLIANCE SUMMARY

A
Perceivable
B-
Operable
C+
Understandable
B
Robust

The site is technically sound, but fails at the point where conversion is actually formed.

Perceivable (A) and Robust (B) are solid. However, Understandable (C+) and attention control are weak.

The Core Problem

  • The interface does not establish a clear decision hierarchy
  • Key value signals compete with each other
  • Users are forced to determine what matters on their own

Result: Cognitive overload reduces effectiveness of strong assets like social proof. The product under-monetizes attention - not due to a lack of trust, but due to how that trust is presented.

Layer 15 - Critical Issues Ranked by Business Impact

Critical #1

No products visible on homepage - 2+ clicks to reach any product

Highest revenue impact

Every paid social click that lands on the homepage must navigate twice before seeing a single product. At an average €0.50–€2.00 CPC for jewelry audiences, this navigation tax converts CAC directly into wasted spend. An in-feed Instagram video showing a specific bracelet drives traffic to a homepage with no bracelet visible.

Implement a "Bestsellers" product row immediately below the hero: 4–6 products with names, prices, star ratings, and Quick Add. Expected impact: +8–15% homepage-to-cart conversion rate. Effort: 4–8 hours (Shopify section).

Critical #2

14,038 reviews architecturally absent from conversion path

Social proof gap

4.96/5 places Vacier in the top 2% of jewelry stores globally. This asset is being used exclusively as a header stat. Review excerpts and customer photos drive 12-18% higher conversion than aggregate ratings alone (Bazaarvoice research).

Step 1 (1 day): Add 3 review quotes to homepage. Step 2 (3 days): Implement photo review display on PDPs (Judge.me, Loox, or Okendo). Step 3 (1 week): Build UGC Instagram feed strip on homepage. Total estimated conversion uplift: +10–20% on PDP-to-cart rate.

Critical #3

No value proposition - cannot answer "why Vacier over any competitor"

Cold traffic tax

D2C jewelry is a saturated market. Without a clear stated differentiation, conversion relies entirely on brand aesthetics (present, strong), social proof (present, hidden), and price (unknown before clicking). A competitor site that states "adjustable fit · lifetime warranty · 925 silver" plainly on the homepage will convert cold traffic at a higher rate regardless of product quality.

Develop a 3-line VP statement: "Jewelry that fits every wrist, lasts a lifetime" · "Adjustable · 925 Sterling Silver · Designed in Sweden" · "Trusted by 14,000+ customers worldwide." Place between hero and category tiles. 2 hours copy + design.

Strategic Recommendation - Executive-Level Analysis

Priority

Strategic brief · Executive-Level Analysis · Prepared by Vsevolod Parypa

The core diagnosis

Vacier has built a product with exceptional social proof (4.96★ · 14k+ reviews), a defensible physical differentiator (adjustable fit), and a compelling quality narrative (925 silver · lifetime warranty · Swedish design). None of these assets are being deployed as conversion instruments.

The site currently functions as a branded catalog - it presents products but does not sell them. The gap between what Vacier has earned (product quality, customer trust) and what it converts (revenue per visitor) is the largest single commercial opportunity available to the brand.

7-day horizon

What must change
immediately

01

Add 6 featured products to homepage with prices + Quick Add

Eliminates the 2-click barrier for all homepage traffic. The highest-leverage single change on the site.

02

Redirect paid social ads to product-specific PDPs

Immediately improves ROAS on existing ad spend without creative changes. Zero dev work required.

03

Install trust strip below ATC button on all PDPs

Makes the lifetime warranty and free returns do the conversion work they were designed to do.

Combined estimated CVR improvement: +0.4–0.7 percentage points. At 50k+ monthly visitors - €X,XXX–XX,XXX/month in additional revenue.

Structural blockers

What blocks
scaling globally

No post-click landing page infrastructure

Every new market, channel, or campaign requires a bespoke landing experience. Without a landing page template system, the brand cannot efficiently enter new acquisition channels or test new markets.

No owned audience growth engine

Email list not being built aggressively. No referral loop. No UGC capture. The brand is entirely dependent on paid acquisition - CAC scales with revenue, and margins compress as the brand grows.

No retention mechanics

No loyalty program, no referral system, no post-purchase lifecycle. Every customer is effectively a one-time buyer. A brand that acquires well but retains poorly is running a treadmill, not building a compounding business.

FIX 1

Full social proof activation

  • → Photo reviews on PDPs
  • → Review excerpts on homepage
  • → Aggregate stars on collection tiles
  • → Post-purchase review request email

+10–20% PDP-to-ATC improvement in comparable implementations

FIX 2

Shoppable homepage + campaign landing pages

  • → Homepage from directory to conversion page
  • → Every paid click on a product-relevant experience
  • → More traffic reaches PDPs (homepage fix)
  • → More PDP visitors convert (social proof fix)

Compound effect: two highest-loss funnel stages addressed simultaneously

Unified direction

Product / UX / Marketing alignment strategy - 3 pillars

01

Own "adjustable jewelry" as a category

No competitor prominently markets adjustable fit. Vacier should build all advertising, all homepage messaging, and all product naming around this claim. It solves the #1 jewelry anxiety (fit), it differentiates from the category, and it supports the lifetime warranty narrative - a product built to last and fit.

All advertising Homepage messaging Product naming Re-targeting creative

02

Activate the trust asset

14,000+ reviews at 4.96 stars is the most valuable unconverted commercial asset Vacier owns. The marketing system should be rebuilt around this number: "Trusted by 14,000+ customers - here's what they say" should appear on the homepage, in emails, in ads, and in every re-targeting creative.

Homepage · Emails · Ads · PDP · Re-targeting creative · Post-purchase flows

03

Build owned audience infrastructure before scaling paid

Every additional €1 of paid acquisition is wasted if the email capture, referral, and retention systems are not in place to compound the value of acquired customers.

7-day wins

Improve immediate revenue via quick wins listed above

30–90 day

Email flows · Referral program · Loyalty - makes revenue improvements scalable and defensible

Layer 16 - Quick Wins (High ROI, Prioritised)

1

Add 4–6 bestseller products to the homepage

Below hero, above category tiles. Product name + price + star rating + Quick Add button. Eliminates the 2-click barrier for high-intent homepage visitors. Highest-leverage change on the entire site.

Dev: 4–8h Impact: Very high Type: Shopify section
2

Surface 3 review quotes + photos on the homepage

Manually curate 3 high-quality reviews with customer names, product purchased, and optional photo. Place between category tiles and footer. Do not wait for a full reviews widget - hard-code 3 reviews as a starting point.

Dev: 1–2h Impact: High Type: Content + HTML
3

Add trust strip below ATC button on every PDP

"Lifetime warranty · Free returns · Secure checkout" - 3 icons with micro-labels, directly below the Add to Cart button. Shopify Liquid template edit, repeatable across all PDPs.

Dev: 2h Impact: High (+3–7%) Type: Shopify Liquid
4

Fix empty cart copy + add product recovery CTA

Replace "THANK YOU FOR VISITING OUR STORE..." with "Your cart is empty" + 3 bestseller product thumbnails. High-reach change - cart drawer is opened by a large percentage of non-purchasing sessions.

Dev: 2–3h Impact: Medium-high Type: Shopify cart template
5

Add "Free returns" to trust bar + define lifetime warranty inline

Add "Free returns" as a 4th trust bar item. Add tooltip to "Lifetime warranty": "We replace any piece with manufacturing defects, forever." Both are copy changes with minimal dev effort addressing documented conversion blockers.

Dev: 1h Impact: Medium Type: Copy + Shopify section
6

Deploy scroll-triggered newsletter popup with 10% offer

The 10% off first order offer is invisible in the footer. A scroll-triggered (50% page depth) or exit-intent popup captures email from users browsing but not converting. Expected improvement: 3–5× current email capture rate from the same traffic volume.

Dev: 1–2h Impact: High (email list) Type: Klaviyo/popup app
7

Move cart upsell to PDP progress bar

"Add 1 more item to unlock your free minimal wallet" - shown as a progress bar on PDPs after first item added, and persistent in the cart drawer. Moves the offer into the browse motivation layer. Expected AOV uplift: +15–25% for engaged users.

Dev: 4–8h Impact: High (AOV) Type: JS + Shopify cart

Layer 17 - Strategic Recommendations

PRODUCT Product-level positioning improvements
01
Make adjustability the hero feature, not a footnote
The word "adjustable" does not appear on the homepage. Adjustable sizing directly eliminates the #1 purchase anxiety (fit). Vacier should own this differentiator explicitly: "Adjustable" in the page title, hero headline, product naming convention, and as a badge on every eligible product tile. This is a positioning shift that costs nothing to implement and directly reduces bounce from sizing anxiety.
02
Build a material quality narrative around 925 Sterling Silver
925 sterling silver is a specific, verifiable quality claim: non-tarnishing, hypoallergenic, hallmarked quality. Currently it exists as a navigation sub-item under Men only. It should be: a product badge on eligible tiles, a dedicated material education page, and a trust signal with a certification visual on PDPs.
03
Build a formal bundle strategy around Sets
Sets exist as a category. The Free Wallet upsell exists as a cart mechanic. These are unconnected. A cohesive bundle strategy would: surface "Shop the look" bundles on every PDP, make savings explicit ("€89 individually / €64 as a set - save €25"), build a "Build your stack" interactive product selector. Proven AOV driver in the jewelry category.
CONV. Conversion strategy
04
Rebuild the homepage as a conversion page, not a directory
The current homepage is a navigation hub. A conversion-optimized homepage is a selling page: it shows products, prices, social proof, and a value proposition - and lets users buy directly. The D2C jewelry brands converting at the highest rates (Miansai, Mejuri, Pernille Corydon) all have: a lifestyle hero with a clear CTA, featured products with prices visible, and social proof in the first scroll. Vacier has none of these three.
05
Activate the 14,038 review asset across the full funnel
This is the most immediately actionable strategic recommendation. Vacier has more reviews at a higher average rating than most independent jewelry brands at its scale. A review activation plan: Homepage - 3 curated quotes + customer photos. Collection pages - aggregate stars on product tiles. PDPs - photo reviews, highlighted quote, "Most helpful" review pinned above the fold. Email flows - post-purchase review request at 14 days. Social - repost verified review photos. None of this requires new product features.
06
Instrument the funnel before making changes
Before implementing any of the above, baseline metrics must be established: homepage bounce rate, homepage-to-collection rate, collection-to-PDP rate, PDP-to-ATC rate, ATC-to-purchase rate, and average order value. Without baselines, the impact of individual changes cannot be measured. Google Analytics 4 + Hotjar session recording is the minimum instrumentation stack. A/B test the two highest-impact changes (homepage bestsellers row, PDP trust strip) rather than deploying all changes simultaneously.

Prioritised Fix Order

1

Grid → asymmetric editorial layout with BESTSELLERS as hero

Highest direct CRO impact. BESTSELLERS not on the homepage means the highest-converting entry point is invisible. One Shopify theme section edit. Asymmetric layout elevates perceived curation and supports premium pricing.

2

Elevate rating 4.96 into hero section and product cards

14,000 reviews at 4.96 is your strongest conversion asset and it is currently hidden. Place as standalone hero element, repeat on product cards, show adjacent to add-to-cart button on PDP.

3

Unified uppercase token for the entire navigation

Apply nav a { text-transform: uppercase; letter-spacing: .07em; } at the theme level. Also manually fix SETS - BUNDLE PRICE and HELP CENTER & FAQS in Shopify admin. Prevents any future manual edits from introducing new inconsistencies.

4

Move NON-VIOLENCE to the footer

Frees a primary navigation slot. Places brand-values content alongside OUR STORY and CAREERS - where users who care about it will find it, without burdening the commercial navigation structure.

5

Hero CTAs → uppercase to match navigation

One CSS rule. Eliminates the fifth casing convention from the page and satisfies Nielsen Heuristic #4. Lowest effort fix in the audit.

Source Notes - NON-VIOLENCE Classification Verified

Factual verification · live URL fetch · April 2026

NON-VIOLENCE is an editorial page, not a product collection

The question was raised whether NON-VIOLENCE might be a shoppable product collection (which would justify its placement in primary nav). This was verified by fetching both URLs directly from the live site. The audit recommendation stands.

URL Shopify type Contains products? Verdict
/pages/non-violence Static editorial page No Brand values content - move to footer
/collections/mens-gift-guide Product collection Yes Correctly in nav (despite editorial name)
/collections/bestsellers Product collection Yes Correctly in nav
/collections/sets Product collection Yes Correctly in nav

In Shopify: /collections/ = shoppable product listing. /pages/ = static content with no add-to-cart functionality. Note: MEN'S GIFT GUIDE, which appears editorial, correctly uses /collections/ - it contains real products. NON-VIOLENCE uses /pages/. Recommendation confirmed.

Brand voice · tagline exploration

Proposed slogans

Candidates for replacing the current "Timeless Versatile Jewelry from Sweden" - shifting from brand identity to emotional resonance and personal identity match.

Option A

Jewelry that reflects you

Positions Vacier as a mirror of personal identity. Appeals to self-expression - strongest with the 18–32 age segment driven by social media discovery. Works well in ad copy and UGC captions.

identity personal social-first

Option B

Made in Sweden
Made with Soul

Signals craftsmanship depth and Scandinavian origin story. Differentiates from mass-market jewelry. Best suited for brand storytelling, editorial, and OUR STORY page - less direct as a homepage headline.

Option C

Jewelry your vibe

The strongest candidate. "Vibe" activates the mood and emotional dimension. Works as a homepage headline, ad headline, and email subject line equally well. Short enough for mobile hero placement.

Option D - recommended

Designed in Sweden
Made for your rhythm

Emphasises the everyday-wear positioning and versatility. The "rhythm" metaphor implies life in motion - active, contemporary. Strongest for TikTok and Instagram Reels where music/movement is the context. Unusual enough to be memorable.

Backstage - Design Research & Visual Development

Design Process in Simple Steps

Design Exploration Phase

The goal was to explore a clean Scandinavian minimalism versus Vacier’s mass-code approach, and translate the brand’s feeling into a scalable global identity. I work across the full product spectrum - from research to launch - treating design not as a visual discipline, but as a system for turning ambiguity into measurable outcomes. Tools don’t create leverage; the ability to think in systems does. In an AI-native context, design stops being execution and becomes a language for shaping how intelligence is applied to real business constraints.

My Vacier audit - 17-layer commercial diagnostic of a D2C jewelry brand - makes this concrete. The primary CTA was receiving 1.1% of visual attention against a 2.4% benchmark. 14,038 verified reviews at 4.96★ were doing zero conversion work anywhere in the purchase funnel. Three changes totaling under 15 hours of development could produce an estimated +0.4–0.7 percentage point CVR improvement. Every recommendation traces back to a specific funnel stage and a measurable loss - cited against Bazaarvoice data, Nielsen heuristics, and Fogg's Captology. This is not design thinking. It is product commercialization thinking applied through a design lens.

The work I care about lives at the gap between interface and trust - between what a product shows and what a user believes. That gap is not a UI problem. It is an information architecture, credibility, and decision-confidence problem.

Also, this section shows how the design was made, trying things out, making changes, and exploring different visual ideas.
